Kings of Noble Noise
The old kings plan backfired, so now comes time for new rulership under a sacred throne still in need of cleansing. This piece was the start of me connecting my interest in black nobility with the themes of my later work involving digital drawing. while showcasing emotions with a subtle yet chaotic environment. The character is fully covered with a thick coating of blue, layered with dark strokes and colorful lining which to me in-signifies new life and a combustion of energy held on for a long period of time. Maybe this was a spiritual reminder from the ancestors to show the possibilities of rulership, but one must move cautious in order to lead a nation.
This piece marks a time of inner challenge dealing with heartbreak, economic struggle, and a coping of many hidden vices. As I started to notice a similar color palette compared to “ Let the Young Gods in “ , I decided to mesh themes by showing the struggles of young black nobles occurring around them whilst still having the knowledge of a foreseeable event. My references were based on blaxploitation films and my personal struggles included
As everything unfolds, I remind myself that good kings can learn from flawed ones. To me, this felt like a form of spiritual language reassuring me that things will eventually be okay, and that it’s alright to reach out to the Most High, even when it feels like an imperfect way to communicate. The blues feel cooler, and the character carries a quiet subtlety that casts no judgment.
“ A tyranny leaves with open breeze
Its not new yet I still don’t know what it means
Shut them out and do not accept word to mouth
I was then met by a protector with wings”
An approach to create a visual representation of an indigenous spirit who unlocks the mastery of ancestral energy that seemed to be locked away in one’s unknowingness.
